S ince it opened for the 1998 World Cup, the Stade de France has seen matches that changed in the final second, from an improbable goal or a killer drop goal. But this time, the one who led from kickoff truly won. Events specialist GL Events announced on the evening of Monday, May 12, that it had been awarded the Stade de France concession, which it will take over management on Tuesday, August 5, for a thirty-year period. Lyon beat the local team made up of Vinci and Bouygues, who have operated the 80,000-seat stadium since its inauguration in 1995.

These thirty years have passed quickly, punctuated by great sporting epics, from the victory of the French football team in 1998 to the gold medal for the rugby 7s players at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, not to mention the legendary concerts of Jul and DJ Snake. But nothing equals the shock represented, in December 2024, by the decision of the State to enter into exclusive negotiations with GL Events , as part of the call for tenders launched in March 2023.

A giant leap for the Tom Thumb of trade shows and Olympic Games, Olivier Ginon, majority shareholder and chairman, founded, in 1978, with three friends, an equipment rental company that has evolved into an integrated service provider for major events. Initially Polygones Services, then Générale de Location, the business was renamed GL Events in 2003, in order to expand internationally.
